Where

At my home studio in the outskirts of Cinderford, Forest of Dean.

The studio is located in a securable back garden, out of sight of the road. At the front of our house we have stunning far reaching views of the river Severn. There is ample parking available along the road. There is a bus stop opposite the end of our drive, and the forest is within easy walking distance.

A 4.5 x 3.5 m cabin, the studio has one fixed workbench and two other moveable worktops, designed to be an adaptable creative space. It has north facing double doors which open out to the garden, along with an openable window to allow for ventilation during bad weather.

What

Time within the studio will be student-led, under the support and guidance of an experienced artist. The students will be encouraged to consider the studio as their own, giving them the opportunity to experience a working creative environment with the freedom to follow their interests. A wide variety of materials and techniques are available to explore. The use of mobile devices is banned within the studio, encouraging students to exist in the moment, exploring their own creative thoughts and ideas. There is the potential for collaborations within the studio, if desired by the students. The main aims are to;

  • Expand on established creative skills
  • Encourage new materials and techniques exploration, guided by the students’ interests
  • Stimulate creative imagination and confidence
  • Expand on understanding of arts industry options and current trends
  • Establish sustainable explorations to continue with beyond the limits of the workshop
